Gladstone's Library

Directed Rossini's "La Cenerentola", with two fantastic casts, at the Royal Welsh College and headed directly up to the extraordinary Gladstone's Library in North Wales. And, for the past couple of weeks, I've been burrowed away scribbling, typing and reading (it's a library).

It's the only residential library of its kind in the UK and, as such, it is rather special.

I think I've fallen in love. I want to tell everyone about it but, at the same, I feel a little protective of it.

The Library itself is open until 10pm, the bedrooms are furnished with a Roberts radio and no TV, and the food in the little cafe is so good that you never actually need to leave.

It's the perfect place to shut yourself away and focus. Which is what I've been doing. Focusing.

I leave tomorrow but I've already planned my next stay.

If you're nearby, definitely visit.

Just don't take the desk near the books on Victorian death rituals. It's mine.
